Black Unicorn Collective
The Black Unicorn
Hey yall, I'm Steph and I practice under Black Unicorn Collective. My journey to yoga begins like many, I was in search of a way to experience and unite my spiritual learning to my physical being. While I was a student, I was not a devoted student. That changed as my life began to fall apart...in the mess of a shattered life, a more devoted practice was born that helped me find both a 200hr and 300hr teacher training to deepen my own yoga practice. It is with this foundation that I practice and offer classes under Black Unicorn Collective. We are rooted in a yoga practice that can create spaces of sanctuary and community, which are vital to honoring our mind, body and spirit. We are rooted in a yoga practice that is centered in social justice and equity that honors the indigenous origins and roots of yoga. We are rooted in a yoga practice that is inclusive and safe for ALL participants. A black unicorn represents the strength and power one needs to achieve their goals. Black unicorn's can overcome barriers and push themselves forward to a desirable, powerfully awesome life. It was this spirit I used to intentionally place the pieces of my life together. The spirit and energy of Black Unicorns is what I bring to each class, and I am honored to share a yoga practice that celebrates our own unique experience in our bodies, while helping you release the stresses of daily life, and celebrates the 'magic' in all of us!
A Unique Kinda Practice...
Self-care is a revolutionary act
In each class...
...it is my hope that your time in practice will be focused on the present moment, allowing your time in class to be self indulgent. If something does not serve you or a particular pose does not feel right in your body, allow this to be a space where we can all offer each other grace and permission to let that ish go. It is my hope that those who visit and share this practice with me, leave feeling more relaxed and less distracted by their fleeting thoughts...aka..... Zen A-F!
Our Yogic Philosophy...
...is based on the belief that mental and physical health are interrelated, and should be conditioned together. Yoga classes at Black Unicorn Collective attempt to coordinate breathing and physical movement, to help improve focus and concentration, and help participants attain a deeper connection to their body, mind and spirit.
