About the Event
What is your relationship to stillness and rest?
How do you cultivate and tend to that practice?
Maybe you are curious about a stillness practice, or are seeking to deepen your practice of stillness and rest to expand into yourself fully. We become aware very quickly, if we practice often, the resistances to resting – whether they be physical, energetic, or mental. We become very aware that there is a level of deep rest that we may not really have instant access to.
In honor of the day that our ancestors were finally released from servitude and slavery, we will take this day to practice and cultivate rest. In this 'rest'shop we'll examine and explore our resistances while learning practices to cultivate rest as a liberatory practice.
“If [our ancestors] didn’t have joy, we wouldn’t be here. Our ancestors are eternal, so that means that their joy is also eternal in us. If their trauma is in our DNA, so is their joy. If their trauma is in our DNA, so are their prayers – and so is their hope.” -Tracee Stanley
Rest is our birthright...."won't you celebrate with me, what I have shaped into a kind of life?"
